EC Commission sued over a .eu domain name

There is now a second case before the EC Court of first instance over a .eu domain name (first case: Galileo Lebensmittel GmbH & Co. KG v. European Commission - T46/06).
The Greek firm INET HELLAS — ELEKTRONIKI IPIRESIA PLIROFORION E.P.E. was apparently barred from the registration of co.eu. It maintains that no Community provision prohibits registration of this domain name (and grounds its complaint on EC Regulation 40/94).

(Case T-107/06 - Thanks to Benoit Tabaka, Esq.).

[Nota: .co is the TLD for Columbia. Article 8 of EC Regulation 874/2004 states that "Alpha-2 codes representing countries shall not be used to register domain names directly under the .eu TLD"]
