We, "political gambits"?

Vinton Cerf said that he feared that the network’s addressing system would break down if “political gambits” by international groups interfered with plans to expand the languages used in domain names ( New York Times, A Web Conflict Centers on Languages Used in Addresses].
Vint', I respectfully disagree! The DNS remains too parochial, and is stuck to its 26 letters of origin. Ideograms and accents are not only beautiful: They are part of the freedom of speech. Technical arguments are not sufficient to bar IDN projects.
